Getting started

What is Healthy Rivalry?+

Healthy Rivalry is an app that turns health and habit goals into friendly, scored competitions you play with friends, family, partners, or groups.

Do I need a fitness tracker?+

No. You log activities through the daily checklist. Trackers can support your entries but are never required.

How long does setup take?+

Most challenges are live in under five minutes thanks to habit templates and simple invite links.

Is Healthy Rivalry only for fitness?+

No. While many challenges focus on fitness, you can build competitions around nutrition, hydration, sleep, reading, saving money, screen time, or any custom habit you want to improve.

Can I run a solo challenge?+

Yes. A solo participant can create a challenge and propose rules that apply automatically, turning personal goals into a scored, streak-tracked game.

Competitions & rules

Can I create my own rules?+

Yes. You define what earns or loses points, set point values, daily limits, and streak bonuses. Rules are fully customizable.

Can rules change mid-competition?+

Yes. Anyone with permission can propose to add, edit, or remove a rule. Solo changes apply instantly; in group challenges the group votes, and approved updates take effect on the schedule you choose.

Can we chat inside a competition?+

Yes. Every competition has a built-in group chat so you can trade trash talk, share wins, and keep everyone motivated without leaving the app.

How many people can join?+

As many as you like. Challenges work for two people, couples, teams, or large private groups.

Do you have pre-made rules I can start from?+

Yes. Healthy Rivalry includes scoring templates for common categories like fitness, hydration, sleep, and screen time, which you can use as-is or customize.

Can a challenge mix multiple ideas?+

Absolutely. Many of the best challenges combine habits — for example, points for workouts, sleep, and home cooking all in one competition.

What if my group cannot agree on rules?+

Use the rule-proposal workflow. Anyone can propose a change and the group votes, so the rules evolve with what everyone finds fair.

Couples & habits

Is this different from a shared step counter?+

Yes. You are not just sharing numbers — you are playing a scored game with custom rules, streaks, and a live leaderboard that gives both partners a reason to show up.

Can couples with very different fitness levels compete fairly?+

Absolutely. Because you choose the rules and point values, you can reward effort and consistency rather than raw performance, so any couple can compete on fair terms.

What if only one of us is into fitness?+

That is common. Many couples start with lifestyle habits — cooking at home, walking after dinner, better sleep — and add fitness rules as motivation grows.

Can we track non-fitness habits too?+

Yes. Track anything you both want to improve — screen time, reading, saving money, bedtimes, or custom habits you define. The rules are fully yours.

How do we keep it fun instead of stressful?+

You set the point values and stakes. Many couples keep it lighthearted with small rewards and focus on consistency over perfection, so it motivates without pressure.

Does it work for long-distance couples?+

Perfectly. The leaderboard and checklist work anywhere, so couples in different time zones can still stay connected through shared daily goals.

Group & workplace challenges

How many people can join a group challenge?+

You can invite as many people as you like. The leaderboard scales to any group size, from a handful of friends to a large community.

Can teams compete against each other?+

Yes. In group challenges you can organize players into teams and let teams battle for the top spot, which works well for offices and clubs.

Do I need everyone on the same device or app?+

No. Anyone with an invite link can join from their phone. Each person logs their own activities through the daily checklist.

Is this suitable for a whole company or just small teams?+

Both. You can run a single leaderboard for everyone or split the company into teams and departments to keep competition friendly and manageable at any size.

Does it require employees to share personal health data?+

No. Participants only log the activities defined by your challenge rules — like workouts or step goals — and groups are private to invited members. No sensitive health records are involved.

Can we run recurring challenges?+

Yes. Challenges can be set to repeat weekly or monthly, so wellness becomes an ongoing habit rather than a one-off event.

30-day challenges

What if I have never worked out before?+

That is exactly who a 30-day challenge is for. Set beginner-friendly rules — a 15-minute walk, bodyweight exercises, stretching — and let the streak carry you from day one to thirty.

Can I do it with a friend or partner?+

Yes. A 30-day challenge shines with a rival. Invite one person or a whole group and climb the leaderboard together.

What happens after 30 days?+

You can end the challenge, start a new one with different rules, or set it to repeat. Many players use 30-day cycles to keep goals fresh.

Account & billing

Is there a free trial?+

Yes. Every new plan starts with a 7-day free trial with no credit card required to begin. You can explore every feature before any payment is taken.

Can I cancel anytime?+

Yes. Cancel from your profile at any time and keep access through the end of your billing period. See our cancellation guide for full details.

What payment methods do you accept?+

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Tax is calculated automatically based on your location at checkout.

Will my price change?+

Your price is locked at the rate you subscribe at for as long as you remain an active subscriber on that plan.

Is my data private?+

Groups are private and invite-only. Your activity entries are visible only to the members of your competitions.

Setup & using the app

Do I need to install anything?+

No. Healthy Rivalry runs in your browser. Anyone with your invite link can join from their phone or computer.

What happens when the challenge ends?+

Final scores, standings, and winners are finalized and shared with everyone — including a results email for group and couples challenges. You can then start a new challenge, repeat the current one, or archive it.
